I lift my eyes and see a world
that makes me feel unsteady.
Yet my heart is strengthened
when I recall—
I am getting ready.
Like Joseph of old, who dared to dream,
then suffered in the grip of hell.
How could he withstand the storm,
the violent tempest swell?
He was not exempt—he passed through it all,
and every step was steady.
Somewhere deep within his heart
he must have known:
he was getting ready.
David, still a boy, once heard
the prophet’s holy word.
With that utterance, his future
was quietly secured.
Yet the road that led him to the throne
ran through wilderness—
raw and bare.
I wonder if he ever questioned
whether he would make it there.
Still, step by step, he walked on—
each step remaining steady.
I think he also must have known
he was getting ready.
So to my fellow travelers
I remind you of this simple thing:
we also are getting ready—
to rule and reign with Him.
Be not distracted by the world’s chatter;
our faith stands rooted in all that matters.
There is a King above all kings—
He carries us on eagle’s wings.
We’re not the ones who carry Him;
we rest in the Father’s hand.
From there we cannot be removed—
not by demon, death, nor man.
